Bridget Hendrix has a lifelong appreciation, love, and curiosity of the human body and its ability to move. She is an avid mover–spending much of her life involved in dance, yoga, Pilates, and outdoor sports such as skiing and mountain biking. In 2000, Bridget became intrigued by the Rolf method and after her first ten sessions, was amazed at its effects. Her body moved in ways that she never knew were possible and she immediately knew this work was for her. After graduating from the Guild of Structural Integration in 2002, she established a flourishing private practice in Colorado and recently moved to Manhattan. To her practice she brings a dynamic knowledge of functional movement, a creative approach, and a gentle disposition. Her goal is to leave every client with a greater sense of body awareness.
What is the Rolf method?
Developed by Dr. Ida Rolf, the Rolf Method of Structural Integration is a systematical approach to balancing the human structure in gravity. It utilizes soft tissue manipulation and movement education to release facial strains in the body. It can be a valuable tool for deepening your movement practices, including yoga, dance, Pilates, GYROTONIC®, and martial arts, as well as for improving athletic performance.

what is the basic premise of the Rolf Method of Structural Integration (SI)?
“Due to injuries, trauma (emotional and physical), repetitive movements, and daily habits of standing, sitting and moving, our bodies develop dysfunctional patterns of strain. Rotations in bones, shortness or tightness in tissues and related muscles create conflicting tensional forces. Over time, with repetition, these patterns can worsen, leading to further limitations in movement and in living. The Rolf Method of Structural Integration is a highly effective way of working with the connective tissue system (fascia) to create balance, length, movement, and lift.”
what is fascia?
“Fascia is the connective tissue of the body; it ensheathes all the muscles, tendons, organs, nerves and bones. Fascia is strong and supportive yet elastic and moveable. It connects, and at the same time separates, everything in the body. Because of injuries, repetitive movements, surgeries, etc., the layers of fascia become glued together and inhibit movement.”

“Clients list the benefits as including, but not limited to: increased flexibility, increased range of motion, alleviation of chronic neck pain, back pain, hip pain, joint pain, TMJ, headaches & plantar fasciitis, decreased post-surgical pain, better posture and body alignment, increased efficiency of body biomechanics, and a general sense of well-being.”
does every client need to do the 10-series?
“One of Dr. Ida Rolf’s brilliant ideas was the creation of the “Basic 10 series.” Every session within this series has a different goal, theme, and focused body region. Each session is built upon the information and findings of the previous session. It was designed to be a systematic approach to unwinding the body. I believe the 10 series is the best place for a new client to start, though it is not required. During the first session, I do an initial consult and determine with the client a treatment plan that best fits his or her needs. We offer single sessions, mini-series, 10-series and post-10 packages.”
