kinectED: Stability Creates Flexibility: The Application of Pilates in Rehabilitation

_DSC0427When pain is present the debate of whether to stretch or strengthen often evolves. Evidence based research reveals that pain is where there is too much movement. In Stability Creates Flexibility: The Application of Pilates in Rehabilitation taught by Christine Romani-Ruby, PT, MPT, ATC, see how Pilates has the unique ability to create stiffness in a resting painful segment that results in an increase in mobility of another segment and a decrease in pain. Participants will also:

  • define muscle balance and the properties of muscles including stiffness, reciprocal inhibition, and synergistic inhibition
  • demonstrate basic movements that apply these principles and correlate them with Pilates mat exercises
  • be taught the use of the spring tension on the reformer to create exercises that support this principle
  • discuss peer reviewed research and case studies that support this principle

There are only TWO spots left! Sign up now to participate in the workshop this Saturday, January 19th from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday, January 20th from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
